Project Overview
One thing you learn quickly when building file infrastructure:
5 TB isn't just a bigger file.
Large files change the engineering problem.
You have to think about chunking, resumability, interrupted connections, retries, integrity, storage, delivery, and what happens when something fails halfway through a multi-gigabyte transfer.
The upload button is the easy part.
The infrastructure behind it is where things get complicated.
That's one of the problems we're solving with R2Upload.
We're building a File Upload API that can handle files up to 5 TB, with multipart and resumable uploads, SHA-256 integrity, BYOB storage, managed Cloudflare R2, CDN delivery, and the infrastructure around the upload workflow.
The goal isn't to make developers better at building upload systems.
It's to make them not have to build one from scratch.
Still early. Still learning. Still improving.
